On this day, we will be taking the time to reflect on our collective past and work on ways to build a better future. This means educating ourselves on the Black experience, meditating on our own identities and histories, and working together on a plan for meaningful action.
We also believe that the right to vote is critical to creating change. For that reason, we are designating Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, as a holiday for all Pursuit staff and Fellows. They can take this day to cast their ballots and take action on the issues impacting our community.
These are small but important steps in our effort to advance equity and inclusion at Pursuit and combat racism and injustice more broadly. We are committed to harnessing the collective energies, talents, and resources of our One Big Team to create lasting and meaningful change. Coding is all about problem solving, and we will put those skills and other talents to work in designing solutions to the structural and systemic racism affecting our society.
Combating these issues is a massive effort, and we will do our part to achieve this critical mission. It will require time and dedication, but our community — our team, Fellows, partners, funders, and volunteers — gives us hope, strength, and purpose.
